Why Is Obesity A Problem?

Overweight or obesity is a major health condition creating panic around the world. Obesity is defined as a disease which is characterized by the deposition of excess body fat in the body. Obesity not only affects an individual physically but also mentally. Know how?

Health: - Obesity leads to a number of life-threatening disorders like hypertension, skeletal disorders, arthritis, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory ailments etc

Surgical Risks: - Overweight or obese people have higher chance of surgical risks or complications.

Interpersonal Relationships: - Obese people may feel embarrassed in front of their partner. Moreover it also limits the full range of sexual activity.

Social: - Overweight or obesity makes a person look unattractive and lazy which is the main drawback for them. Many obese men and women revealed that it becomes really difficult for them to find a partner.

Fashion: - Today’s generation pays more attention towards their fitness. That is the reason why very few fashion houses cater for over size. Furthermore larger sizes are even more expensive as compared to medium and smaller sizes.

Pregnancy complications: - Obese pregnant women reported to have a higher level of male hormones, experiences high blood pressure and an increased risk of contracting diabetes mellitus too.

Physical discomfort: - Obese person often suffers from Fatigue, shortness of breath, joints pain, lack of energy, laziness

Psychological Effects: - Obesity may leads to depression, stress, lack of self-confidence, insecurity, embarrassment, loneliness, unhappiness etc
